Learn how ocean-friendly fishing helps protect our seas and wildlife, economies and livelihoods, and helps provide safe food as part of a healthy diet.

Getting started

Be sure to read our getting started guide first. The guide tells you how our lessons have been designed to be used, and gives you a breakdown of the features included in each one.

1. Introduction to seafood

Did you know that 97% of UK households eat fish? By choosing sustainable seafood, we can reduce pressure on wild fish populations and support local fishers and producers.

This lesson will introduce the types of seafood we commonly see in the UK and the terms ‘sustainable’ and ‘overfishing.’ Pupils will also learn about the characteristics of fish and get active with our 'let's go fishing' game!
