Our partnership with ALDI
Aldi partnered with us in 2023 and are the biggest supporter of our national beach cleaning and litter survey project, Beachwatch.
Through a combination of financial support and hands-on colleague volunteering, the Aldi team joined this vital citizen science project to help reduce beach litter and campaign for positive change.
The Beachwatch programme supports more than 15,000 volunteers to organise and take part in 1,200 local beach cleans each year. In 2024, Aldi staff and their customers will be invited to join a series of organised beach cleans at events around the UK, or access training to organise their own.
Liz Fox, National Sustainability Director at Aldi UK, said: “We are pleased to support the Marine Conservation Society to create positive change for the UK’s seas as a corporate partner.
We know that making significant changes takes time, but through our commitments we are working towards bettering the environment for everyone.
Liz Fox, National Sustainability Director at Aldi UK
Our partnership with Aldi means we’re able to carry out beach cleans year-round and collect valuable data that makes a big difference in keeping our seas safe for wildlife, people, and future generations. Working with a corporate supporter on marine conservation means that we can extend our reach beyond our existing volunteers and supporters, and train large numbers of new citizen scientists.
Aldi’s support of our charity also makes it possible for us to develop our annual State of our Beaches Report, which brings together data on almost half a million pieces of litter collected by volunteers throughout the year and reports on the findings. This in turn helps us to show what the trends are in beach litter and informs our communications and campaigns throughout the year.
