Save ocean protections
Our campaign to save ocean protections has now come to an end.
Campaign update: 30th June 2023
After months of debating, the Retained EU Law (REUL) Bill passed without key amendments to prevent environmental protections from being watered down. We'll continue to work closely with parliamentarians to ensure that the standards for protection of our ocean and environment are maintained.

Thank you for taking action with us and for giving the ocean a voice. Alongside other organisations, including Friends of the Earth, RSPB, WWF and ClientEarth, we sent out over 30,000 emails to Members of Parliament.
Why we took action
The Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill (REUL) was proposed to remove or weaken EU-derived laws in the UK by the end of 2023. For the health of people, planet and wildlife we stood together with other environmental organisations to challenge it.
There were many opportunities for safeguards on environmental protections to be included, yet no concession was made. We will continue to fight for a cleaner, better protected and healthier ocean that we can all enjoy.
