Ocean recovery starts with the most unlikely heroes.

By supporting the restoration of hero species, such as the native oyster, you will help us unlock cleaner seas, stronger coastlines and a thriving Atlantic coast for generations to come.

They didn’t ask for this, but native oysters, kelp, blue mussels and seagrass are the unsung heroes of the sea.

These ‘hero species’ are busy filtering pollutants, capturing carbon and protecting the habitats that marine life depend on. They’re the foundation of healthy seas, and yet, they’re rarely recognised for the vital roles they play. But decades of dredging, overfishing and exploitation have taken their toll. Climate change has brought rising temperatures and increasingly acidic seas, pushing our heroes’ populations to the brink. Once thriving forces in our ocean, these species are now sparse and struggling.
