Protect our ocean by emailing your MP

Will you help protect our ocean?

This spring, Sir David Attenborough’s ‘Ocean’ shone a stark light on the damage we are doing to our seas. We work to protect our ocean from further harm and help it recover from decades of exploitation. With your help, we can make an even bigger impact.

1. Email your MP

The first step to protect our ocean is to ratify the High Seas Treaty as soon as possible by urgently laying it before Parliament.

At the UN Ocean Conference in June, the UK Government committed to signing the Treaty by the end of 2025 but our seas can't wait any longer.

Use our quick letter template to email your MP and demand a cleaner, healthier and better protected ocean without further delay.

2. Protect our ocean as a member

Thanks to supporters like you, we’re restoring vital habitats and driving groundbreaking conservation projects. Your donations will power our ambitious new Atlantic Coasts initiative - reintroducing ‘superhero’ species like native oysters, seagrass and kelp to help regenerate and protect UK seas.

Through previous seagrass restoration work, seagrass cover has increased by an impressive 212% over the past 4 years, a fantastic example of how quickly our ocean can recover when we work to protect it.

Did you know? Seagrass is essential for marine life and absorbs 35 times more CO₂ than rainforests, making its protection vital in tackling climate change.

Take action as a volunteer

Our Sea Champion volunteers see first-hand how their actions make a difference to the recovery of the ocean.

13,248 beach clean volunteers cleared 17 tonnes of litter in 2023, cleaning up debris before it affected our local wildlife such as marine turtles and seabirds.

Our volunteers had a big impact below the waves too, with volunteer divers spending an incredible 1,336 hours completing underwater surveys. That’s nearly 8 weeks underwater!

Joining in with a beach clean is fun and easy, with dozens to choose from across the UK. Why not join in, or sign-up for free organiser training and host your own?

We also need in-land volunteers to help us stop litter reaching the ocean in the first place. On a Source to Sea Litter Quest, you can make a big difference by recording litter in your local park, playground, town or green space.

Make a splash for ocean restoration through your business

We are always keen to talk with companies who are looking for ways to support ocean recovery and help us in our mission to accelerate ocean restoration.

Our experienced Corporate Partnership team work with over 60 businesses to ensure that their generous donations make a significant impact towards improving the health of our ocean.

Whether you are looking for ways to achieve your CSR goals, or looking for a unique staff engagement day, like our Company Team Beach Cleans, which engaged 2,180 company volunteers on the beach last year, we would love to hear from you.
