Together, we can create a wave of change.

Marine habitats are under threat, and wildlife faces unprecedented challenges from pollution, overfishing, and climate change. But we have the solutions to make our ocean thrive once more. Together, we can make 2025 the year our ocean thrives.

Five impacts from your donation

The Marine Conservation Society is dedicated to protecting and restoring the UK’s marine environments, ensuring they remain a thriving home for dolphins, sea turtles, seabirds, and countless other species. But we cannot do it alone. Your support helps:

1. Restore critical habitats

£50 could help us plant seagrass and revive vital marine habitats

We've rebuilt and restored hundreds of hectares of fragile seagrass meadows and reintroduced native oysters to create essential nurseries for marine life. In Cawsand Bay, Plymouth, seagrass density increased by 212% after we replaced damaged traditional moorings with Advanced Systems.

With your help, we can continue to protect, restore and plant crucial carbon-absorbing meadows.

2. Protect iconic wildlife

£15 could help safeguard turtle populations by working with local communities, ensuring the protection of iconic species like the leatherback turtle

Each year, an estimated 8-13 million tonnes of plastic enter our seas, harming marine wildlife. We're joining forces with partners to safeguard turtles, protect minke whales and basking sharks in the Hebrides, and promote sustainable seafood choices.

Every donation from you aids vital programs to protect endangered species from pollution and bycatch.

3. Curb ocean pollution

£25 could help train up beach clean organisers so that, together, we can remove rubbish from our beaches and inform decision makers on what’s polluting our seas

Last year our volunteers cleared 17 tonnes of litter from beaches across the UK. Volunteers completed 5,165 citizen science surveys, providing vital evidence to influence decision-making that affects our seas .

With your support, we can prevent harmful plastics, chemicals and sewage from entering our seas and advocate for stronger laws to prevent future contamination.

4. Combat climate change

£10 could help combat climate change by helping us give a voice to the ocean in parliament to protect more of our seas

Our campaigning helps protect powerful carbon sinks. We've safeguarded an area of seabed the size of Essex, with new byelaws introduced to protect over 4,000km2 in 13 English MPAs from bottom trawl fishing, which disturbs the seabed and the carbon within it.

Your support can help us ensure Marine Protected Areas are enforced to prevent damaging delicate marine habitats.

5. Achieve seas for all

£30 could empower more young people to connect with their local coast and inspire them to take action for our seas

Together, we can teach, inspire, and connect communities all over the UK to our ocean. This way, they can enjoy its gifts and feel strong enough to protect it.  In the past year, over 150,000 young people and 3,411 community members developed their understanding of the ocean and how to protect it through our events and online resources.

With your impact, we can engage with more schools and communities to create new generations of ocean protectors.

Time is running out

Every minute, another habitat is degraded. Without immediate action, we risk losing the rich biodiversity that makes our ocean – and our planet – so full of life.

Together, we can make 2025 the year our ocean thrives. Marine wildlife faces threats from pollution, overfishing, and climate change. The Marine Conservation Society is dedicated to protecting marine wildlife, and has solutions to ensure dolphins, sea turtles, seabirds, sharks and countless other species thrive in our ocean once again.
