Great British Beach Clean - North Berwick
Join this beach clean to help us stop harmful litter from reaching the ocean and collect vital data that we can use to bring about positive change for our seas.
Join staff from the Marine Conservation Society and the Scottish Seabird Centre for a beach clean and litter survey in North Berwick as part of Great British Beach Clean week!
We will begin with an introduction to our beach clean citizen science survey and then carry out a clean for about an hour. All equipment (gloves, bags, surveys, littler pickers) will be provided. There are free public toilets at North Berwick harbour and free parking along Melbourne Road (please note parking can be difficult at peak season, so allow plenty of time to get parked).
All ages are welcome but under 16's will need to be accompanied by an adult. As there is a cap on the number of people we can provide equipment for, please register your interest so you don't miss out.
Also worth knowing…
What to bring: We’d recommend you pack a rucksack with a few essentials like sunscreen, waterproofs, hand sanitiser, and perhaps some snacks and a drink (in a reusable bottle, of course).
What to wear: If you're picking up litter with your hands it's worth wearing a strong pair of gloves - like gardening gloves - just to make sure you're protected. Sturdy shoes are a must for protection too.
Under 16s: To comply with our insurance, volunteers under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult who will be asked to sign a parental / guardian consent form on the day by the beach clean organiser.
29 spaces remaining - join us on the beach whilst there’s still spaces!
