Are you an 'early bird'? Do you wish you could join a beach clean, but are always stuck at work during the day? We are looking for volunteers to join us - the Marine Conservation Society - for an early morning beach clean by Brighton Pier to help us promote our upcoming Great British Beach Clean event, which is taking place from 19th - 28th September!

This will be a drop-in, pop-out when needed session between 7am and 8.30am, though sign-up is neccessary. You will help us not only clean the beach but collect vital litter data towards our 30-year strong Beachwatch database, supporting us to make policy change for our ocean long into the future. What better way to start your day?

Please note that press may be in attendance at this event.  We are also looking for volunteers who would be willing to potentially take part in a short interview, though this is not required! If you would be interested in this or happy to take part on the day, please drop an email to the contact listed.

All equipment will be provided however please feel free to bring your own gloves if you feel more comfortable wearing your own. These should be thick garden-type gloves fo picking up litter.

Accessibility - We want to ensure this event is as accessible as possible. Please talk to us ahead of booking if you have any health conditions, access needs or Special Educational Needs and we will do our best to support your participation.

I look forward to seeing you bright and early on the 6th August... come and celebrate cleaner seas with us!

Also worth knowing…

What to bring: We’d recommend you pack a rucksack with a few essentials like sunscreen, waterproofs, hand sanitiser, and perhaps some snacks and a drink (in a reusable bottle, of course).

What to wear: If you're picking up litter with your hands it's worth wearing a strong pair of gloves - like gardening gloves - just to make sure you're protected. Sturdy shoes are a must for protection too.

Under 16s: To comply with our insurance, volunteers under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult who will be asked to sign a parental / guardian consent form on the day by the beach clean organiser.

29 spaces remaining - join us on the beach whilst there’s still spaces!
