Join the Marine Conservation Society for a family-friendly beach clean and litter survey at the National Trust's beautiful Formby beach.

All ages welcome. Under 16's will need to be accompanied by an adult. As there is a cap on the number of people I can provide equipment for, please register so you don't miss out on a spot.

Equipment:

All equipment will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own gloves if you prefer (gardening gloves are fine). Please dress for the weather and bring comfortable footwear. Water in a reusable bottle is advised (beach cleaning can be thirsty work!)

Getting to the clean:

MCS encourage sustainable transport to beach cleans wherever possible. Formby Freshfield station is a 30 minute walk from the beach. Click here to find train times

By Road: Victoria Road car park is 2 miles off A565. Follow brown signs with National Trust logo “Formby Point” from roundabout at north end of Formby bypass by the BP petrol station.

Sat Nav: for Victoria Road car park entrance use postcode L37 1LJ.

Parking: Victoria Road car park can become full very quickly on sunny weekend days and holidays. Consider taking public transport, parking in Formby and walking up, cycling, or arriving at the car park in good time to secure a parking spot. Further information about parking will be provided via email nearer the time to those who have registered.

Weather:

Spring in the UK brings with it unpredictable weather: If the short-range forecast is showing particularly bad weather on the day of the clean (e.g. heavy rain or yellow weather warning), volunteers who have registered will receive notice of cancellation via email at least 24 hours ahead of time. Please do check your emails if the weather forecast is looking particularly bad.

Hope to see you there!

Also worth knowing…

What to bring: We’d recommend you pack a rucksack with a few essentials like sunscreen, waterproofs, hand sanitiser, and perhaps some snacks and a drink (in a reusable bottle, of course).

What to wear: If you're picking up litter with your hands it's worth wearing a strong pair of gloves - like gardening gloves - just to make sure you're protected. Sturdy shoes are a must for protection too.

Under 16s: To comply with our insurance, volunteers under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult who will be asked to sign a parental / guardian consent form on the day by the beach clean organiser.

16 spaces remaining - join us on the beach whilst there’s still spaces!
