Beach clean - Goring-by-Sea
Join this beach clean to help us stop harmful litter from reaching the ocean and collect vital data that we can use to bring about positive change for our seas.
This is a beach clean and litter survey of 100m stretch of beach, marked by 2 blue flags, organised by Worthing Green Party for the Marine Conservation Society - all welcome. We will meet by a table on the beach. We will start picking at 10.30am for 1 hour, so gather say 15 minutes before, and stay a little after we stop picking to weigh the bags and take a group photo! If you download the Marine Conservation Society app you can add your data directly or you can have a paper sheet. If you have clipboard, a biro and gloves please bring them, dress for the weather. There will be a short briefing before we start and we will survey, sort and weigh the litter we collect.
We want to have space for lots of local people, so if you are coming from further afield please don't book up more than 5 spaces.
Also worth knowing…
What to bring: We’d recommend you pack a rucksack with a few essentials like sunscreen, waterproofs, hand sanitiser, and perhaps some snacks and a drink (in a reusable bottle, of course).
What to wear: If you're picking up litter with your hands it's worth wearing a strong pair of gloves - like gardening gloves - just to make sure you're protected. Sturdy shoes are a must for protection too.
Under 16s: To comply with our insurance, volunteers under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult who will be asked to sign a parental / guardian consent form on the day by the beach clean organiser.
8 spaces remaining - join us on the beach whilst there’s still spaces!
